Preventive Oncology
Preventive oncology is given equal importance, as the department conducts regular free cancer screening camps and also uses state-of-art to diagnose and treat pre-cancers as well as early cancers. More than 30% of cancer deaths can be prevented by avoiding certain risk factors like tobacco use, obesity, an unhealthy diet, a lack of exercise, alcoholism, pollution, etc. So, we primarily focus on creating awareness among the public about the need to screen for early detection of cancer.
Preventive Oncology OPD provides screening for most common cancers at highly subsidized rates. These Screening Services are also conducted through community based cancer detection camps. The department organizes training programs for health workers on prevention and early detection of cancer.
